Things I'd Like To Say

I was diagnosed in January 2005 with Stage IV breast cancer with Metastases in the spine and femur. When you hear this for the first time, it can be a bit overwhelming and I have to say, I was scared. I started on hormone therapy and had radiation to the spine and femur following surgery to insert a rod in my femur. After radiation was finished there was a marked improvement in my back pain and my leg slowly but surely was almost healed. I retired from my job when I decided I would use all my energy to fight the cancer. Here I am four years later and I am receiving chemo for the first time since my diagnosis. I am doing well; I just have some fatigue with the chemo and I expect to get a break sometime over the summer. The bottom line is, I am still alive and living a great life. I have the help of wonderful friends that help me when I cannot help myself and I have witnessed my youngest daughter's graduation, the other two daughters' commencements from college, my oldest getting married and just this week, her graduation from law school. I consider myself lucky to be around for these momentous occasions and I plan to be around for much longer.
